MSU fraternities donate to help COVID-19 relief
At the IFC Chapter Presidents meeting on 5/5/2020, presidents were given an option to donate their chapter’s semester rebate to COVID-19 programs that will help out people in the local East Lansing and Lansing area. Eight fraternities stepped up to the plate to help those in need:
Beta Theta Pi
Theta Delta Chi
Delta Kappa Epsilon
Phi Delta Theta
Sigma Pi
Theta Chi
Triangle
Zeta Psi.
These eight fraternities were able to donate up to $4,000 in total.
These fraternities elected to donate the money to two local charities. The first one being, FLAG (Front Line Appreciate Group), FLAG is a group that is dedicated to helping feed front line health care workers during the coronavirus pandemic while also keeping local restaurants in business. The second is Haven House. Haven House provides emergency housing and support services for one-parent and two-parent families with children. Haven House helps families who are homeless prepare for permanent housing by developing and promoting self-sufficiency, stability, and financial responsibility.
“I am super proud of these IFC chapters for foregoing their semester rebate to donate to a real problem that our entire country is facing right now. It really shows that our IFC chapters can see the big picture and can be a part of helping those in need affected by it.,” Jake Yun IFC VP of Community Relations. “Both of these local charities are doing great things not just in the community but to fight COVID-19 as well.”
The Michigan State IFC is very proud of our chapters that stepped up to help those in need!
